Newton Bunce –
I have used these bags for years and really appreciate their effectiveness and simplicity, and my clients comments who purchased them from me testify to similar sentiments. Filled with either hot or cold water they are readily versatile for whatever situation you desire. They are SO superior to a regular hot water bottle (old tough red bladder style) because they wrap or conform to the body. Being pliable they distribute the heat or cold over the entire surface they cover. This makes them excellent for use with castor oil packs. Because this is a water heat, I think they are MUCH better than electric heating pads. Furthermore they hold their heat surprising well, being a double walled construction. My favorite application (naturally) is as a bed warmer in the winter. Fill the bag with hot water and stick in your bed 5 or 10 minutes in the area of your back or down at the bottom before you climb in. It is GREAT as a cold feet treatment and tucked up under your thighs /butt it will warm the primary blood vessels and carry the heat throughout the body. Be sure to “burp” the bag of any excess air before applying or you may have “lost at sea” dreams during the night. It is amazing how warm they still are in the morning. These are very durable as well if given a little appropriate TLC. One caution is not to over fill the bags. As the instructions say, a quarter to half full is plenty; more only stresses the seams and cap – especially if you are planning to sit or lie on the bag. In all my years of use I have never had a cap “pop” off no matter how I have use this. Enjoy.
